black turban snail: they are black with white in the inside. they are dome shaped and smooth except of several weak spiral cords. you can find them anywhere between vancouver, british columbia, to baja california. they live on or near rocks.
conchs: conchs can be every colorful. they feed on fine plant mattter in warm waters. they live in tropical shallow waters. people say if you put your ear next to a conch shell you can hear the ocean.
channeled dog whelk: they live in rocky and muddy areas along the intertidal zone. they eat mussels and barnacles by drilling holes in their shells, injecting enzyme, and then siphoning up the liguid remains.
chiton: they have an 8 piece shell. they travel by cling to rocks. they eat algae, radula (hard teeth). they are very slggish. there are more than 800 different types, they can live for 25 years and grow to 1/3 to 12 inches.
limpets: only eat at night. they eat algae off of rocks. when they move they leave a trail of mucus. they have no eyes. they can be light-brown, grey-brown, dark brown, white, or green. they can grow 2 to 10 centimeters long.
mussels: they can grow up to 150mm to 6 inches. they can be any color but most or dark blue, brown, or black. they live in both saltwater and freshwater. they stick together, if one moves left they all move left.
northern striped dog winkle: they eat barnacles, oysters, and mussels. they live in rocky areas on the west coast.
octopus: have 8 arms and 2 rows of suctions cups of each arm. there are over 100 differnent types. can grow to 23 feet and weigh over 400 lbs. if they loose an arm it will grow back. they eat fish, crabs, shrimp, turtles, and snails.
sea hare: they eat algae all day and night.
slippershells: they live in the atlantic ocean coast. they are white and flattened. they attach them selves to hard objects.
whelks: they have axial and spiral shells. they are found of the atlantic seaboard 600 feet underwater. they can grow up to 4 inches.
